The Sacred Heart Curriculum

Sacred Heart of Jesus School provides a Christ centered environment that allows students to live and think according to a Biblical worldview. We provide a rigorous education that instills a lifelong love of learning so our students are prepared to thrive in high school, college and beyond.

The Sacred Heart Curriculum

Enrichment Electives

In this semester long elective class you will have the chance to participate in a podcast based on your favorite books and stories. Students will learn how to produce a podcast and then will star in that podcast discussing what they like most about their favorite book or story. Students will write the script, choose the music and record their own podcast!

Are you a sports nut? Is gym your favorite special of the week? This class is for you! With this elective, enjoy an introduction to a variety of unique sports. Get a taste of some athletic events that you may not know about or have played before. Challenge yourself to learn new things and have fun. You never know what Mrs. Leach might have up her sleeve!

Like getting your hands dirty? Is Science your jam? Can’t spend enough time in the lab? This class has your name written all over it. Dig deeper into your inner chemist and biologist and learn what makes this subject FUN. Students can expect to expand their knowledge, AND get their hands dirty (think frog dissection!)

Sacred Heart is thrilled to be bringing back our very own cheerleaders! With Mrs. Springer's background knowledge, students in this class will learn several basic cheers and become experts at rooting on our favorite Tiger Teams. Students will learn basic jumps, motions and proper stretching. Once these students have mastered the skills, they will assist Mrs. Springer in a Saturday clinic for younger students to teach and execute a cheer during Catholic Schools week!

If you love creating, or want to improve your skills at crafting, our Cricut Design class is for you! In this class, learn the basics of the cricut program and use its tools to design and create your own products. Think personalized stickers, bags, inspirational signs, and one of a kind water bottles - the possibilities are endless!

Come learn a hobby that will relax you, bring out your creativity, and help you develop an end product you can be proud of! In this class, you will learn the basics of embroidery. Let this be the beginning of a new skill that will open doors to endless possibilities!

Do you find yourself checking out the succulents in the grocery line? Do you like digging in the dirt? Do plants breathe? I do not want to leaf you hanging so plant on joining me to weed out the answers to those questions and much more. Exploration will take place in the science lab as well as outdoors on the school grounds, weather permitting. After this enrichment program is over, enjoy practicing what you learned at home with your culminating project

In this class, students will learn the basics of the game of pickleball in a friendly, non-competitive way. They will learn stroke development and serving technique as well as the rules of the game, how to keep score, etiquette, and game strategy.. Equipment will be provided so come and learn to be a pickleball pro!

An enrichment class designed to help students master a variety of effective study techniques and strategies. In this class, students will learn to utilize the many features and tools available in their Google Classroom account to enhance their learning experience. Along with practical skills, the class also provides dedicated study hall time for students to apply what they've learned and complete assignments. This class aims to empower students with the skills they need to succeed academically.

Students who love stories like *Percy Jackson* will have a blast exploring the fascinating world of ancient Greece. They will dive into the myths of legendary heroes and encounter mythical creatures like the Minotaur, Medusa, and the Hydra. Through interactive lessons and fun activities, students will discover the thrilling adventures and moral lessons behind these timeless tales, bringing the magic of Greek mythology to life.

Students will learn the fundamentals of creating realistic drawings by observing everyday objects. They will develop essential skills such as understanding proportions, shading techniques, and capturing light and shadow to bring their drawings to life. Through hands-on practice and guided instruction, students will learn to create detailed, expressive still life compositions that reflect their unique artistic style. This class offers a creative space for budding artists to refine their drawing skills and explore their creativity.

Students will have fun while improving their critical thinking and problem-solving skills through a variety of strategy-based games. They will learn to plan ahead, think creatively, and work as a team while mastering classic and modern board games. This class provides an exciting and engaging way for students to sharpen their minds and build social skills. There's a game for everyone to enjoy.

Students will explore the basics of percussion through the fun and energetic practice of bucket drumming. They will learn essential rhythm patterns, coordination, and timing, all while developing their musicality and teamwork skills. This hands-on class offers a creative outlet for students to express themselves and build confidence in their musical abilities. It's the perfect opportunity for young musicians to dive into the world of percussion in a unique and engaging way.

Students will dive into the exciting world of sewing by learning essential skills like threading a needle, stitching, and hemming. They will get hands-on experience with fun projects, from creating their own fabric crafts to designing simple accessories. With each stitch, students will build confidence, unleash their creativity, and discover the joy of making something unique with their own hands. This class is perfect for those eager to learn a valuable, lifelong skill in a fun and engaging environment.

The talented Miss Sweigert from Brush Tips Art Studio and our new Art teacher will be putting a new twist on her art instruction. This quarter, students will learn the basics of 3D art of design by learning how to make 3D pieces of art with traditional and nontraditional materials. We will learn several folding techniques, weaving to create 3D illusions and paint to add color and designs. Projects included: Paper Mache Bowls, Plaster Figure Sculptures & Clay Planter Pots.
