Yes we take field trips
Students take learning outside the classroom.
At a time when many school systems are foregoing field trips, Sacred Heart of Jesus School continues to provide them as a valuable adjunct to classroom learning. We believe that on-site learning is just as important as learning in the classroom. That’s why each grade participates in a yearly field trip to a variety of locations.
Probably the most anticipated, and sought after trip, is the 8th grade field trip to Washington D.C. The 8th graders spend two nights, three days exploring the sites, monuments, museums and a cathedral around the city. A tour of the capitol building and a question and answer session with a congressman is one of the highlights of the trip. The 8th grade class create lifelong memories from this very important and informational trip!
There are so many fun excursions the students of Sacred Heart of Jesus School enjoy. Places like Put-in-Bay, Columbus, Pittsburgh, the local zoo’s, natural parks, and the fire station are just a few of the many sites visited. Thomas Edison’s birthplace is a favorite site for the fourth grade class. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade classes love to explore the zoo!
Many of the sites visited correspond to the curriculum our teachers are covering at the time of the trip. Seeing first hand the topic covered in class, builds a better understanding of the subject for the student. Yes we take field trips, and we are very proud and blessed to be able to do so.
