Get a glimpse into our Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week is an anticipated week for our students and their families!

Not just because of all of the fun activities that take place throughout the week, rather because it brings families together in Christ.

National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It is a week long celebration beginning on Sunday, January 25 and running through Friday, January 30, 2015. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2015 is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities—small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are three measures by which any Catholic school can and should be judged.

Sacred Heart of Jesus School observes the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses, luncheons, a talent show, pep rally and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, we focus on the value Catholic education provides to our young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.

Here is a glimpse into our Catholic Schools Week:

January 25: The week kicks off with the Noon Mass where students participate in various parts of the Mass. Afterwards, everyone is invited to an all school open house.

January 26: Today is Principal for a Day, where a student(s) takes on the role of “ruling the school for the day!” A breakfast is also prepared for the students of the quarter.

January 27: Have lunch with your family day!

January 28: Our highly sought after Talent Show performance!

January 29: 9:30 Mass with a Wall of Fame induction. Two volunteers are honored for their service, dedication and hard work devoted to our school. The day ends with our staff vs. student athletic games and pep rally.

January 30: Each class participates in a community service project. Some classes will go to nursing homes to perform songs or make crafts. Other classes go to local charity organizations to help with whatever is needed. The goal of this is to help brighten someone else’s day. A carnival for families, parishioners and community members concludes the week long celebration.
